The Ekballo Challenge

The Ekballō Challenge

The Ekballō Challenge is an exciting visit of seven days to a Least Reached People group.  Your team will be guided by a seasoned missionary, who will take you on a challenging journey to see and experience things that tourists won’t.

Be ready for a challenging and life-changing time.  A never-to-be-forgotten experience!

During your time there, you will get a taste of what it’s like to be a frontier missionary.  You will learn about the culture, religion, and make some contact with the local people. The missionary will guide you through some challenging experiences – a little bit like the TV series “The Amazing Race” (but not as physically challenging).

You will hear the missionary’s personal testimony of how God called him, and hear some of his personal experiences.

Come and dare to pray onsite what Jesus commanded us to pray: “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest” (Luke 10:2) Expect God to speak to you!

Come and see the sights, taste the tastes, and smell the smells.  Return to your church a changed person.  See for yourself one of the places where God is waiting expectantly to make His next move.

Find out how you can become more involved in the Great Commission – through encouragement, praying, giving – or even perhaps going yourself.

This will depend very much on the destination of the specific trip you will be going on.

To be honest I didn’t really know what to expect from Ekballo. I knew the word meant, “thrust out” and this implied some sort of adventure, which appealed a lot … I was able to live vicariously as a missionary through our leaders stories and experiences, so much so that I feel a little dissatisfied with my spoilt lifestyle back in Johannesburg since I have returned. It feels as though the spiritual richness is gone & has been replaced with material richness, which is indeed a poor substitute. God help me to find a place working in his vineyard where the balance is restored … If I have to summarise what Ekballo did for me it would be to say it has deeply unsettled me. It has made me restless for more of God’s kingdom. I’m probably in the process of being ejected from my comfortable couch in front of the fireplace. All I can say is, “God, I am willing. Use me.” – Deborah

I wanted to thank you both so much for the wonderful Ekballo week. I can’t believe how utterly clueless I have been about the depth of the sacrifice and challenges missionaries face. I am downright embarrassed. I wish I could rewind on how I have spent my money and my time for the last 10 years (at least). I just want a paradigm shift in my own heart and life and in the heart of the Church. One of my favorite scriptures is “Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained” Proverbs 29:18 NASB I know I will be praying for the Church to catch the vision in a new level. It is hard to articulate the depth of work I feel the Lord has done with Ekballo.” – Cheryl
