Rahab Ministries – Thailand

Rahab was established in Soi Patpong, the red-light area of Bangkok, in 1988 by the late Patricia Green to offer a future and a hope to the bar girls of Patpong.

In these two streets, over 4000 children and girls, work as prostitutes in the bars and strip clubs. This is just the tip of the iceberg. It is estimated that as many as 800,000 women and children are involved in the sex trade in Thailand. Some research suggests it is far higher.

The Rahab program reaches out to the bar girls through the

  • Rahab Beauty Salon
  • English classes
  • Bar visitation to Patpong

Girls are assisted into employment with making jewellery and crotchet toys or with opportunities in hairdressing, nail art and sewing schools.

Patpong is little more than two adjacent side streets off the main Silom Road in Bangkok in Thailand.

Every evening, it becomes a neon lit strip of nightclubs, bars, and gogo strip clubs.

Patpong is also a well known night market for tourists. Right outside the sexy bars, just a few feet from the entrances with dancing girls clearly visible, you can see tourists with young children browsing the market stalls, with sex show hawkers pestering people left, right and centre.

The Laundry Shop provide the girls with:

  • Practical and emotional support
  • Educational and vocational training

The goal is to see many girls out of prostitution and into alternative employment as possible.

All women leaving the bars need a supported environment to receive emotional healing, build self-esteem, develop social skills and learn new values for wholesome living. Any donations to Rahab Ministries will ensure these women are offered a future and a hope.
